Secret Passage Through The Weight Of The World~ Twenty Two.

            ‘Alright, where are they!?’ Jared and Tiffy heard Shan-nons voice and she didn’t sound calm.

The voice actually woke them up from their little nap.

Then they heard running footsteps and a knock on the door and Shan-non, Tomo, Dani, and Shannon walked in.

‘Are you ok?’

‘Where’s the baby?’

‘Was it hard?’

            Everyone was asking different questions all at once.

     ‘Whoa! One at a time.’ Jared laughed.

Tiffy spoke up, ‘I got it, I heard it all.’ She laughed a little and answered the questions.

            ‘I’m fine, I’m still pregnant, I don’t know, but I’m guessing it’ll be pretty hard.’

Everyone still looked confused.

            ‘I started having contractions so Jared brought me here. The doctors told me I’d gone into premature labor and they gave me a shot to slow it down. So far it’s worked because I haven’t had a contraction since they gave it to me.’ Tiffy explained.

            ‘Did the contractions hurt bad?’ Shannon (Leto) wanted to know.

            ‘Good Lord yes!’ Tiffy told them about the pain.

            ‘Ok, I’m not getting pregnant. Shannon we’re adopting.’ Shan-non told her boyfriend.

A nurse walked in, ‘Alright Mrs. Leto, lets take those vitals.’ She said too cheerfully.

Jared moved off of the bed to give the nurse access to Tiffy. The nurse took Tiffys blood pressure, heart beat, and checked the contraction chart to make sure the medication was still working.

            ‘You and your baby seem to be doing just fine Mrs. Leto. Keep relaxing and don’t get worked up over anything.’ The nurse walked out.

Jared sat back down next to Tiffy.

            ‘They still got name wrong.’ Dani laughed a little.

            ‘But it has a nice ring to it.’ Tiffy smiled

            ‘Speaking of ring, where’s your ring Tiffy?’ Tomo asked

            ‘Hu?’ Tiffy looked down at her hand ‘It’s gone!’ She panicked.

            ‘Maybe a nurse took it off for some reason.’ Shan-non offered her two cents worth.

Tiffy pushed the call button.

     A nurse rushed in, ‘What do you need Mrs. Leto? Is it a contraction!?’ the nurse asked urgently.

            ‘My ring is gone.’ Tiffy said in a tiny voice, close to tears.
 

    The nurse sighed a sigh of relief.

            ‘Hold on Mrs. Leto.; The nurse walked out and came back with a little zip lock baggy holding the ring.

            ‘We removed it incase you did go into labor. If you would have been wearing earrings we would have taken those too.’ The nurse explained then walked out.

     Jared took the ring and placed it on Tiffys finger.

            ‘Aw!’ Dani said loudly.

            ‘What?’ Tiffy asked.

            ‘That. He put it on your finger for you.’ Dani smiled.

            ‘It makes it mean more then just jewels and gold.’ Tiffy smiled at Jared.

When Jared and Tiffy got home Tiffy took the clothes and Jared took the bassinet inside. Almost as soon as they got inside Tiffy felt the baby kick and then she got a cramp. She winced in pain.

            ‘What?!’ Jared asked Worried.

            ‘Oh, nothing, the baby kicked and I got a cramp.’ Tiffy smiled still a little in pain.

            ‘You ok?’ He asked still worried.

            ‘Yeah, I think I’ll be fine.’ She smiled at him.

            ‘Ok.’ He smiled and took the bassinet to the nursery while Tiffy fallowed with the clothes.

   Tiffy was walking up the stairs when she got this powerful cramp. It knocked all the wind out of her and was so painful she yelled out in pain.

 Jared practically ran down the stairs to where Tiffy was.

            ‘Are you ok?’ He almost let it show that he was panicked.

            ‘Cramp…’ Tiffy got out.

            ‘Do you want to walk it out?’ Jared asked and Tiffy stood up.

   Jared took Tiffy and supported her as they walked down the rest of the stairs.

            ‘Its not helping.’ Tiffy said in pain as Jared sat her down in the reclining chair.

            ‘Not even a little?’ Jared was worried more.

            ‘No.’ Tiffy told him.

            ‘Take a deep breath.’

            “Its gone.’ Tiffy sighed, ‘that was so weird.’

            ‘Are you sure that was a cramp?’ Jared asked.

            ‘Yes I am.’ Tiffy told him.

            ‘Alright.’ Jared kissed her forehead.

     Tiffy stood up and Jared followed her into the kitchen.

            ‘You want some hot tea?’ he asked.

            ‘I’ll get it.’ Tiffy said.

            ‘No its ok.’ Jared started to make the hot tea.

     Tiffy sat down at the table and tried to hide that she was cramping again.

Jared noticing, walked over and tried to comfort her. A few minutes later, it was over.

            ‘Sweetie I don’t think those are cramps.’ He spoke softly.

            ‘They have to be.’ Tiffy told him standing up.

            ‘I know its crazy but I think their contractions. That was only ten minutes from the last one.’ Jared explained trying not to frighten Tiffy.

            ‘Its just that salad Dani made, I’m fine.’ Tiffy assured him.

     She walked to the stove and poured the hot water into two mugs and put a tea bag in them with some sugar and a little milk.

            ‘If you’re alright, I’ll go tie the shutters closed. The wind is blowing hard and I don’t want any broken windows.’ Jared said as he played with Tiffys hair.

            ‘I’ll be fine.’ Tiffy smiled and sipped some of her tea.

            ‘Alright.’ Jared kissed her and left the kitchen.

     Tiffy felt a tightening in her lower abdomen, ‘Not more cramps.’ She thought as it worsened.

     The pain was unbearable and her knees buckled as she called for Jared.

            ‘Jared!” She almost screamed it hurt so bad.

     Jared had heard it and was down the stairs and in the kitchen in 2.3 seconds flat.

            ‘Are you ok?’ Jared rushed over to wear she sat on the floor.

            ‘No…’ Tiffany said trying to breath.

            ‘Deep breath Sweetie. Remember how they taught you.’ Jared helped her take in a few deep breathes to calm her down and relax her.

            After it passed Tiffy panicked ‘Its too soon Jare Bear. I’m only 7½ months.’ Tears rolled down her cheeks.

            ‘I know. We need to get you to the hospital.’ Jared explained and helped her up.

            ‘Jared…’ Tiffy whispered/cried.

     Jared held her in his arms, ‘Shhh… everything will be alright. I promise.’

     They went to the car and another contraction started. It was only 2 minutes after the last. They rushed to the hospital and went to the front desk.

            ‘She’s having contractions.’ Jared explained.

            ‘She must be in labor Sir. Hold on and wait your turn.’ The nurse said rudely.

            ‘She’s only 7 ½ months pregnant!’ Jared told the nurse.

     Tiffy put her hand on Jareds shoulder to help calm him down and it worked.

Another nurse walked up to the counter, ‘What seems to be the problem here Sir?’ She asked nicely.

            ‘My fiancé is having contractions and she’s only 7 ½ months pregnant.’ Jared explained. Again.

            ‘Alright Sir.’ The nurse called someone and brought out a wheel chair for Tiffy.

            ‘Have a seat Mrs. Leto.’ The nurse said.

     Tiffy sat down and Jared, her and the nurse went along the halls.

            ‘How far apart are they?’ The nurse asked her standard questions for these scenarios.

            ‘10 to 7 minutes. But she hasn’t had one for 15 minutes.’ Jared explained.

            ‘Alright. Are they getting stronger, longer and closer together?’ The nurse asked Tiffy.

     Tiffy started another contraction. ‘Yes.’ She said painfully.

        The nurse timed it. ‘6 minute contraction. You may be in labor.’

            Tiffy was horrified. Jared took her hand.

            ‘I can’t be in labor…’ she said softly.

            ‘We can try to prolong it, but we have to see the doctor first.’ The nurse explained trying to make it sound like everything would be okay. They reached the room.

            Before long Tiffy was in a hospital gown on a gurney hooked up to a heart monitor for both her and the baby, and a machine that monitored contractions. The doctor had checked her and in fact she was going into labor. He gave her a shot to slow it down then told her and Jared, ‘It may and may not work.’

   Tiffy was in pieces. Jared took her hand, ‘Its not your fault.’ He kissed her fore head and sat next to her on the bed. She lay her head on his chest and proceeded to cry.
